Marc Levine

Violin

Based in Saint Paul, Minnesota, Marc is a founding member of the baroque chamber music ensemble Flying Forms and, in addition to frequent performances, is in residence with the group at Lawrence University, the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire and with Minnesota Youth Symphonies. Marc is also a member of Early Music New York, the Lyra Baroque Orchestra, Minnesota Sinfonia and other various local and regional series.

Marc was a prizewinner in the 2008 American Bach Soloists International Competition for Baroque Violin and has recorded with Early Music New York on the Ex Cathedra Label as well as with the Center for Contemporary Opera as part of The New Tango Project. He has performed in many prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Symphony Space, Merkin Hall, (le) Poisson Rouge, Yale University and Orchestra Hall (Minneapolis). An experienced performer of contemporary works, Marc was a member of the Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble, performs regularly with Zeitgeist and, with Flying Forms, has commissioned many new works for old instruments. A seasoned entrepreneur, Marc is the co-founder of the chamber music venue, The Baroque Room, in Lowertown, Saint Paul. The space, created in 2011, is home to a full season of concerts and receives regular positive critical notice from major local publications. More information at marclevine.info
