Charles Asch performs cello recitals, chamber music recitals, and with orchestral ensembles in the Twin Cities and throughout Minnesota. He performs on a German baroque cello from the early 1700s, and a modern cello by Gary Davis in New England, 1996. He has performed several recitals focusing on the Baroque/early classical repertoire, featuring Sonatas by Boccherini, Vivaldi, Geminiani, as well as solo cello works by J.S. Bach and Dall’ Abaco.
His 19th-20th century repertoire includes sonatas by Beethoven, Debussy, Poulenc, George Crumb and John Harbison.He received his Master of Music degree from Juilliard in 2011, where he studied with Richard Aaron and Fred Sherry. He is completing his doctoral thesis for a DMA degree at the University of Minnesota, where he studied with Tanya Remenikova.
