This Year’s Wines

2014 Domaine De Gournier Cévennes Viognier
The owners of this Domaine began as Pepinierists (vine rootstock/clone experts), so they know how, what and where to plant! This Viognier is complimented by just a splash of barrel fermented Chardonnay (for a fruit push) and Sauvignon Blanc to brighten up the Viognier. Certified ECOCERT (Sustainable).

2012 Domaine Napa Napa Valley Chardonnay
“Bright pineapple, apple, and vanilla cream aromas with a silky, fruity medium-to-full body and an opulent fruit driven finish with a well-balanced layer of oak. A spot-on Napa chardonnay that is delicious and versatile.” 91 points

2014 Domaine Pellehaut Harmonie de Gascogne (FR)
Delights the senses with its aromatic intensity; tropical fruit, ripe citrus and white flowers notes are balanced by refreshing acidity. Another Gold Medal winner for Pellehaut! Great French press but no American press. An artful bend of 7 grapes from the owners of Chateau Palmer!

2013 Giocato Pinot Grigio (SVN)
Incredibly tiny yields (one bottle per plant!). Dry farmed, hand harvested, organic grapes. Aleks Simcic is a great winemaker! This shows classic Pinot Grigio profile: green apple, acacia flower, almond, a bit of apricot plus citrus in a bright, light frame. Awesome texture here due to very extended time on the lees and tiny yields.

2011 Bouchaine Carneros Pinot Noir
“Very pretty nose featuring hi-tone cherry syrup and very modest oak input. Mid weight flavors of dark cherries and red currants with an earthy undertone. Nicely balanced tannins and a dry, charming finish. Very good.” Prince of Pinot. Sustainable Farming.

2014 Domaine Faiveley Bourgogne Pinot Noir
This Pinot Noir from selected parcels in Burgundy has pleasant, fresh, red-fruit aromas on the nose, which you will find again on the palate. It has rich and very ripe substance, with fine round tannins. It’s a very well-structured but yet fruit driven wine.

2014 Paolo Scavino Dolcetto D’Alba (IT)
“Delicious, this vibrant, mouthwatering red doles out fleshy black cherry, crushed blueberry, ground pepper and clove alongside polished tannins. An almond note graces the finish. This makes a fantastic everyday wine.” 89 points Wine Enthusiast

2011 Poggiotondo Chianti Superiore
“This offers complexity and personality, exhibiting cherry, leather, spice, tobacco and wild herb flavors. Balanced and firm, with a long aftertaste of tobacco and herb.” 90 points Wine Spectator

2014 Chateau Les Rambauds (Malbec)
Light and bright with herb, pepper, raspberry and violets. Surprising softness with rounded tannin already. Move over Argentina, the French STILL know how to do Malbec right! “I have made this wine with nothing but the estate’s best Malbec to bring out all the richness, generosity and character of this historical Bordeaux variety.” Bernard Cazade Winemaker.

2012 Villa San Juliette Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon

“Smooth and spicy in the mouth, offering smoky dark berry, chewing tobacco and floral pastille flavors complicated by hints of cracked pepper and licorice. Finishes with decent persistence and dusty tannins that add gentle grip.” 88 points Vinous who suggests drinking now – 2024.

2014 Obalo Rioja
“A smoky, foxy, saucy opening leads to a medium-bodied palate that’s more or less standard for Rioja. Blackberry, roasted plum and light oak flavors finish steady, a touch rustic and with a vanilla note.” 88 points Wine Enthusiast and 89 points Vinous

2013 Gabriele Meffre St. Vincent Cotes Du Rhone Rouge

“Gentle plum, herb and lavender notes mingle here, with lightly dusty tannins through the finish.” Wine Spectator.
