Kayo Saito

Violin

Kayo Saito, born in Japan, started her musical career on the violin at the age of four and the piano at the age of eight. She studied theology at Doshisha university in Kyoto and holds a Bachelor of Theology Degree, and she studied solo and ensemble playing at the Toho Orchestra Academy. Kayo decided then to specialize in baroque violin at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague with Kati Debretzeni, Ryo Terakado, E. Wallfisch and C. Mackintosh, where she received both a bachelor’s and master’s degrees. She was selected to be principal violist in 12eme Academie Baroque Europienne d’Ambronay directed by William Christie, and has since played with Les Arts Florissants. Besides Les Arts Florissants, she is a leader and main player of several baroque ensembles such as Les Inventions, Apollo, Collegium Musicum Den Haag, Musica Poetica, and many others.
