We hope you join us for a concert of German music performed on recorder, violin, cello and harpsichord that demonstrates the wide variety of styles from this 150 year span of music. Some of the composers may be very familiar (Telemann, JS Bach) and others may be new to you (Schmelzer, Goldberg). These composers taught each other, and transmitted elements of sacred and secular music that they learned from other European musicians. Musicians have always been eager to share with each other new styles, harmonic languages, instruments and performance practices. We enjoy exploring relationships both between the composers of Germany, and between them and the rest of Europe.
with Clea Galhano, recorder
Margaret Humphrey, baroque violin
Rebecca Humphrey, baroque cello
Barbara Weiss, harpsichord
